Not sure if this is where this goes please tell me where if it
doesn't belong in this forum....


Looking for information on how to write a Daemon process.  Is there a
simple Daemon that has easy to follow code so i could grab the source
and learn.  I know apache and sendmail as well as others use daemon's but
i fear they may be to difficult for a beginner to decipher how to make a
daemon process himself.  Also when I stick a cd in my solaris box it knows
there is a cd in there and mounts it.  I'm assuming from some sort of
Daemon.  What do cd-roms do that lets the OS  (be it solaris windows etc)
know there is a cd-rom in there.

In case your wondering I'm going to attempt to write an auto mounter for
the cdrom.
