Hi,
Does anyone know why the following happens for any user other than root?
mail appears to have deleted messages if a fresh list is requested, but when
mail is exited, instead of the usual

    '# messages stored in mbox'

or whatever you have your system message is, it says:

'Unable to lock mailbox: Permission denied' - see below.

and when mail is started again, all messages are still there.

mail appears to work perfectly for root, so presumably it's only a permissions
or suid problem, but I can't see anything obviously wrong in /etc/sendmail.cf
and am not sure which files should be set to what permissions. The system is
freshly installed and apart from the obvious local changes, such as host/domain
name, is as installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

regards,
Dave
