I submitted NetBSD bug #1463 about this on September 14, 1995.  The bug
database says this is the same issue as bug #792 (February 10, 1995), and
that #792 was fixed June 27, 1997.  You didn't say what release of NetBSD
you're running, but if it's anything recent, I guess you "should not" be
seeing this, and you might want to post a bug report accordingly, perhaps
referencing the above two bugs.
