Hello. I'm running tcpdump on a 486 (NetBSD 1.2). The network interface is an SMC Ultracheap (ed0). Every few hours, the net connection dies, and I get tons of messages on the console of the form:
<Date> <Time> <nodename> /netbsd: ed0: device timeout
The machine was fine (stayed up for weeks with no problems) until (a) I started running tcpdump and (b) network traffic increased sharply.
Any idea what's up? More details that I should provide? Feel free to flame ruthlessly if I am overlooking the obvious. It doesn't appear to be a bad card-- I've tried a few of them (all SMC), all with the same result.
Thanks,
Kirk Corey
