Hi Andreas,
That would be dependant on your shell. /bin/sh, /bin/ksh and bash, in
their default configuration, don't do that. You may have a symlink setup
(/arch = /sys/arch), but then you should see the directory as /arch. In
sh or bash, If you have a CDPATH environment variable, it is searched if a
directory doesn't exist. Type "echo $CDPATH" to see yours. You could put
many directories in there if you wanted to:
CDPATH=/sys:/usr:/sbin:/usr/local:
but you'd have to put a lot in there to cover ALL the directories, which
isn't a good idea anyway...
