Hello, all.

As our networks grew and we now have quite a few Unix workstations
available. These workstations used to have separate users accounts
each, but with such a growing keeping so many passwds has turned into
a realm mess. Then we decided to create some NIS blocks to group
passwords in related machines.

However, YP looked too dangerous as it isn't at all safe. With
NetBSD, for example, shadow passwords become useless since any
user can do a ypcat and grab them all, and export them, for
example.

So the question is: isn't there a similar approach which is not
so weak in security? What about NIS+ or something like FreeBSD's
variation (whatever name it has)? Does NetBSD project plan to
improve on security in yp?
