I've not seen this at all here, and we use 3C509's under NetBSD 1.2 in
our machines.  They're all set to IRQ 10, though, not 9.  NIC
performance seems OK (500 to 700+ Kbytes/second FTP throughput is
normal).  We only have one SCSI controller per machine, so you might
try using just the 1542 controller and see if that gets rid of the
delay?
