1) check your permissions on /dev/tty01
2) add softcar to the end of the tty01 line of /etc/ttys, then reboot.

I am using a hybrid NetBSD 1.2/A on an i486/sx that has a 16450 UART.
My problem is, when I use cu or tip to try to access the modem, i get
no response. the modem is on tty01(com2) and I get "write error" from
cu every time it "connects" to the modem. What am I doing wrong? I would
like to be able to use ppp, but I'm not sure if somewhere a capability
file was misedited or whether there is some other problem.
