Much lower latency. On ISDN, at least, it takes about 40 ms for a
packet to get to the other end and back again. The round trip time
on a 28.8K modem link is typically 130-160 ms on a good day.

As an ISP, I generally find I can run about 20-25 modem dial-up
users over one DS0 (64K link).
