Who are you doing the cd & ls as?  Is it root?  If so, do you have
the fs exported with root access for the partition? Check the
permissions of both the fs and the underlying mount point on the
netbsd system if you are trying the commands as a normal user.  If all
that is ok you could try running etherfind on the sun to see what the
netbsd system is sending....
