Some time ago, I asked about backups using a Sony DDS-2 DAT drive on a
NetBSD i386 1.0pl6 system.

Using an example that was provided, I tried:

>#dump 0Bfu 2000000 /dev/rst0 /dev/sd0g
> DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Aug 2 17:37:43 1995
> DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
> DUMP: Dumping /dev/rsd0g (/home) to /dev/rst0
> DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
> DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
> DUMP: estimated 409556 tape blocks on 0.20 tape(s).
> DUMP: dumping (Pass III) [directories]

At this point the system "hangs" for about 120 seconds. ping's from
another host go unanswered. Then the system wakes up and says:

> DUMP: End of tape detected
> DUMP: Closing /dev/rst0
> DUMP: Change Volumes: Mount volume #2
> DUMP: Is the new volume mounted and ready to go?: ("yes" or "no") no
> DUMP: Do you want to abort?: ("yes" or "no") yes
> DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.
>#

/var/log/messages/ had this entry:

>Aug 2 17:38:28 u1 /netbsd: st0(aic0:6:0): command aborted, info = 10240
>(decimal)

Any ideas?

Also, what are the differences in the devices below?

>enrst0
>enst0
>erst0
>est0
>nrst0
>nst0
>rst0
>st0

Thanks for any help!
