This wouldn't happen to be the DMA beyond the 16MB limit, would it?  Does
your chipset automatically map the "extra" RAM from underneath the BIOS
area to above 16MB?  The amount of extended memory that CMOS should be
aware of is 15360KB.  Just a shot in the dark.
