My PC has a combo card that has two serial ports, which, alas, have no
fifos. cu and tip work reliably on this setup (to the extent that you
can say they work reliably at all), but slip hoses up when presented with
very much data - hoses up is defined as no data going out, and buffers
gradually filling up with stuff that is supposed to go out.

Before I go on a bug-hunting expedition, is it the combo board? Do I
need fifos? Would I be better off getting a better combo board, or a
serial card?
