Hi

I got a friend's NetBSD box on loan last week and connected it with ethernet
to my NetBSD box which I use to connect to work with a PPP link.

Only then I noticed that my ethernet network is not being propagted. I've
tried various routed switches and the routed dump files don't help either.
tcpdump shows that RIP is coming in over PPP - from a NetBSD box at work -
and my NetBSD box is sending RIP over the ethernet and the PPP link.

Both my box and the work box run 'routed -s' and the other NetBSD box at
home runs 'routed -q'. When the PPP link is up I see all the subnets at
work on all three boxes with netstat - so RIP is coming down ok.

The work machine sees my network pointing to the correct gateway (my home
NetBSD box's PPP port) and that is also on the SUN on the local subnet at
work. I can even PING the network address and see my MODEMs lights go and
the ping works - PINGing my machines IP address get a ICMP redirect error
from the CISCO - that's our Internet link - my side's MODEM lights still
flash though.

Trying to PING the SUN form the loan machine the lights on the ethernet
and the MODEM goes, but no reply. BTW I did set the default gateway to my
box'es ethernet port on the loan box and to the remote PPP port for my
NetBSD box.

I've all but given up - any hints - I'm SURE its a simple problem but the
bricks in the wall seems awfully BIG...
