The doc shouldn't mention either flag.  It's a topic for another chapter. 
Probably just one of my habbits back then.

Also, back when I wrote this, 'absent' device was a new feature.  Also, 
RAIDFrame support wasn't in INSTALL kernel.

Why isn't there a RAIDFrame setup menu in sysinst yet?
