Hello Translators,
I'm sorry I have to send out such a mass-email, but this is something
that may concern you all:
As some of you know, I was experiencing some trouble with the CVS setup
on netbsd.netmeister.org, thus making it difficult (if not impossible
in some instances) for you to access the translation-cvs-repository via
cvs.
I have evaluated the situation carefully, particularly under the
recent increase of collaboration and translation (thanks everybody for
your efforts!), and have come to the conclusion that it will be far more
practical and easy for me to discontinue with a separate CVS repository
for the translations:
Currently, I need to maintain three completely different hierarchies
(one worked on by all of you, one to diff against and commit from to the
original tree and one for the webserver netbsd.netmeister.org) -- as
changes are submitted via CVS in some cases and via email in the form of
diffs and as changes also are made by other developers on the live-site
that need to be merged back into our repository, this has become too
complex a task to warrant the current setup.
So what I'm saying is basically that from now on if you have any
translations or changes to existing documents, please simply generate a
diff against anoncvs.netbsd.org and send me the patch -- I promise to
apply them in a timely manner. I will, however, continue to maintain a
local mirror at netbsd.netmeister.org so that suggested changes can be
previewed there before they are applied to the original tree.
I'm sorry for all this back-and-forth but I'm quite certain that this is
the easiest solution.
Thanks a bunch and good luck with your ongoing translations :)
-Jan
