If an HPE model 562FLR-SFP+ dual port ixl adapter has an SFP module present and media connected at system boot time, ifconfig hangs uninterruptibly for about 2
seconds, then prints "ifconfig: SIOCAIFADDR: Resource temporarily unavailable" when attempting to configure an IPv4 address on the port with the SFP and media present. Inserting an SFP module (including one with media present) in either port after boot time causes no problems - the port works fine. Booting the system with an SFP module inserted but no media connected is also fine - an address can be configured whether media is present or not, and when media is present, the configured address will work. Tested with an Arista model SFP-1G-T 1000baseT SFP module, as well as an Ultra Spec GLC-SX-MM-USC 1000baseSX module. I do have 10G SFP modules available to test with but I don't have a switch at hand with a 10G SFP port so I cannot create the media-connected condition required to reproduce the problem with the 1G modules. Again, if the SFP is present but no media - no problem. I disabled everything I could find related to preboot networking or network boot in the system firmware
settings; no change.
