Oh, I see - the comment is not there (yet) in the netbsd-10 branch.
And the change may be needed for this branch due to the unified
handling missing too.

So this patch should be applied to netbsd-10 only and requires a
pullup request w/o -current counterpart (not needed on HEAD due
to general variable reorganization).
