 The behaviour cannot be changed b/c that would break people's scripts
 that do things like (a random example off the top of my head):
 
     sed -i '/^constty/s/off/on/' $target/etc/ttys
 
 
 That also opens a can of worms with an optarg that starts with a dash,
 e.g.
 
     sed -i -OLD ...
