RE: kern/57480
I’m seeing very similar things on my systems. I have an HP6200 which uses the Intel Sandy Bridge GI1 Integrated Graphics rev. 0x09 and an HPz230 which uses the Intel Haswell Integrated Graphics rev. 0x06.
Both work with NetBSD 9.2, although the logs show that on the HPz230 the i915drmkms is disabled automatically on boot. Under 10.0_BETA the HP620 uses the i915drmkms although there are some random artifacts on the display at times. The HPz230 doesn’t disable the i915drmkms on a boot of 10.0_BETA, as it did under 9.2, and fails to bring up X. Manually disabling i915drmkms allows X to start, although at a very low resolution. Disabling i915drmkms and adding a GOP command to the boot options makes it function as it does under 9.2.
For what it’s worth, the xdm and Xorg log files don’t give much info on why X or xdm failed to start, other than the display device is disabled.
