egrep '(txp|pci1|ioapic0 pin 5)' /var/run/dmesg.boot
pci1 at ppb0 bus 1
pci1: i/o space, memory space enabled
vga0 at pci1 dev 5 function 0: ATI Technologies Rage XL (rev. 0x27)
fwohci0 at pci1 dev 6 function 0: VIA Technologies VT6306 IEEE 1394 Host Controller (rev. 0x80)
txp0 at pci1 dev 8 function 0: 3Com 3c990B 10/100 Ethernet w/ 3XP
txp0: interrupting at ioapic0 pin 5
txp0: fw wait failed, initial

I wonder whether I've an interupt routing problem in *that* machine; I must
disable ACPI to boot it. I've another decomissioned from active service machine
that I can try with this card next week; maybe it has PCI slots.
