 i386 is not likely to be different. -current might be (but it's only
 worth trying if it's fairly easy to do so, the chances aren't that
 good)
 
 Otherwise maybe check to see if the vendor has a BIOS update;
 sometimes that turns out to do the trick.
 
 Beyond that I have no particular ideas, but someone else might.
 (Though since nobody else has responded in six months perhaps not...)
