 This sounds like there may be a size confusion about that disk.
 
 The GPT usually has a primary header (right after the fake/protective MBR
 sector) at the beginning of the disk and a second copy at the very end of
 the disk.
 
 If somehow the OSes disagree about the total size of the disk things could
 go wrong. But for USB disks this would be quite a strange thing to happen.
 
 In NetBSD you can see the geometry of the disk in the output of the dmesg
 command.
 
 Also for ancient disks and old BIOSes the installer allows to manually 
 override the geometry (but I don't think the gpt partitioning tool cares
 about anything but sector size and total number of sectors).
 
 Could you check if the reported disk sizes differ?
