 FWIW, I removed my 88SE9230 based card (HighPoint Rocket 640L).
 
 The device (and the attached disks) completely disappeared on multiple
 occasions while doing lots of IO on Linux.  Same thing has been reported
 by multiple users running Linux and Windows.
