It is if you're doing an unpriv'd build (-U) which your PR
indicated that you are, particularly when using -j (which you are
also doing) - it keeps the updates of the METALOG file (where
the ultimate owner/perms for everything installed is saved) from
stepping all over each other and making a mess.
