Using Fedora-25 and a PNY 64GB USB-2.0
first I tried using dev/sdb1:
[tom@new-host-3 ~]$ cd netbsd
[tom@new-host-3 netbsd]$ ls
NetBSD-7.1-amd64-install.img
[tom@new-host-3 netbsd]$ sudo dd if=NetBSD-7.1-amd64-install.img
of=/dev/sdb1 bs=32k
[sudo] password for tom:
17600+0 records in
17600+0 records out
576716800 bytes (577 MB, 550 MiB) copied, 1.14629 s, 503 MB/s
Re-started the machine, Dell BIOS did not recognize NetBSD (on the USB) as
a boot option.
then I tried dev/sdb:
[tom@new-host-3 netbsd]$
[tom@new-host-3 netbsd]$ sudo dd if=NetBSD-7.1-amd64-install.img
of=/dev/sdb bs=32k
17600+0 records in
17600+0 records out
576716800 bytes (577 MB, 550 MiB) copied, 97.6374 s, 5.9 MB/s
[tom@new-host-3 netbsd]$
Re-started the machine. Dell BIOS did not recognize NetBSD (on the USB) as
a boot option.
My next step:
I'm going to try creating an install USB for FreeBSD.
