 The mechanism for this is in progress - updating the data files is
 relatively easy.   The issue here is that it also needs a zic update
 to be a smooth transition (old zic will generate warnings for the new
 data files) and that is a bigger job.
 
 Longer term I'd like to see a dynamic update capability for the tzdata
 files (and other similar data files, like the DNS root server list).
 
 Of course, if you feel inclined, updating tzdata yourself, from the
 distribution source file, is easy (just ignore the warnings from zic.)
