 I'm pretty sure that this bug is a duplicate of 47499 and the patch 
 mentioned in that PR,
 http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/misc/chs/diff.acpi-sci.4 , fixed the 
 problem. I applied the patch against CURRENT at -D 2012.09.23.00.33.00 
 (cvs date tag), and was able to boot normally.
