>Originator: Julian Fagir
>Release: NetBSD 6.0
>Organization:
>Environment:
NetBSD 6.0 NetBSD 6.0 (GENERIC) i386
>Description:
When installing a stock NetBSD 6.0 on an EeePC 901, the ethernet does not work
(and wlan is not even recognized).

  ale0 at pci2 dev 0 function: Attansic/Atheros L1E Ethernet
  ale0: AR8113 (L2E RevA), ioapic0 pin 17
  ale0: Ethernet address 00:22:15:87:80:a9
  atphy0 at ale0 phy 0: L1 10/100/1000 PHY, rev. 9
  atphy0: 10baseT, 10baseT-FDX, 100baseTX, 100baseTX-FDX, auto

The interface always shows no carrier, and when you enable it, it will
periodically spam the console with this error message:

ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 1
ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 1
ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 1
ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 1
ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 0
ale0: phy read timeout: phy 0, reg 17

Ethernet does not work overall, no carrier found always, and trying DHCP does
not work as well.
Maybe this is also the wlan interface, but ethernet (which is physically there)
does not work nonetheless.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install NetBSD on a EeePC 901.
