 I doubt that's the problem - in the first dmesg output there's an  
 error message about the cmdide driver failing to map the chip's  
 registers, I think we're missing a BAT mapping for whatever address  
 range the grackle in this particular B&W G3 uses for its IO space  
 ( apparently it's different from the beige G3 - I fixed a very similar  
 problem there a few months ago ). That's why I asked for the ofctl -p  
 output.
