 Some things to try if you get a chance:
 
    - booting with acpi disabled (boot -2 from the bootloader)
    - booting uniprocessor (boot -1 from the bootloader)
    - booting with usb devices disabled (boot -c, then "disable usb"
      should do it)
 
 If any of these gets any further, what comes immediately after the
 "wsmouse1 at ums1" line? 
 
 also, it would probably be useful to know how the mouse chains back to
 the usb controller and what kind of usb controller it is.
