If you still have this hardware, can you try NetBSD-5.1_RC3, which is 
available at:
http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-5.1_RC3

...and if that fails, NetBSD-current?  A recent snapshot can
be had here:
