My old Thinkpad 380Z can handle 1.44 MB El Torito images, but it
can't handle 2.88 MB images. That broke CD booting for me. However,
it can handle the new bootable (non-emulated) CD. I can't speak for
the originator's old Dells, but I can say that the problem has been
 solved for me.
