Sorry Martin, but after trying the patch, I have to report it did not fix t=
he=20
problem. although it did significantly change the erroneous behaviour :)
Now ifconfig can see if the network cable is plugged in, or not, but other=
=20
tools cannot. I did try ifwatchd and dhcpcd, and both believe that the=20
interface is always down. To complicate, dhcpcd could not bring it up (for=
=20
longer than a wink of an eye) either, not even with the -K (disable link=20
status detection) switch!
Pasting simultaneous dhcpcd and ifwatchd run outputs:
