I didn't understand that this was from the ISO.
I downloaded the 5.0.1 iso and I didn't have problems extracting
xfont.tgz and xserver.tgz from it. Also the md5 checksum for these 2
files matches those of the individual files I downloaded.
Maybe your ISO image did get corrupted while downloading or burning ?
