 The original problem as descriped in the PR is fixed.
 But if I switch roles: the math in main() and something
 "destructive" in the signal handler I'm still getting
 errors. I thought I've mentioned this in some mail, but
 appearently this didn't make it to gnats.
 It might be better to open another PR for that, so I'll
 close the original one.
