I didn't look at all of what was committed yet. But was this for putting a
man page in amd64 subdirectory too?

Yes. Otherwise, on a amd64 system, `man boot' just gives the generic boot(8) man page.

What is the policy or plan for the amd64 specific manual pages?

My system has zero amd64 man pages installed so I am wondering if
something changed.

This is the first one, although there used to be at least one (my new Makefile replaced a dead rev 1.3)
