When I posted in

it was (as the thread shows) hard to see what was the cause. With today's
kernel I get a repeatable panic on boot - a bit easier to reproduce!

Problem is the box is then frozen, so no core dump. It may also be that there
is an earlier panic which disappears off the top of the screen, as the above
lines are repeated.
