My beige G3 does hang for a while when detecting devices on the 2ndIDE channel ( I've got a DVD drive there, it takes about 15 seconds toshow up ). Also, the heathrow-based IDE cells are notoriouslysensitive to less-than-optimal cables, I couldn't get IDE DMA to workon any device, thought it's a Heathrow-related problem but it turnedout with new cables the thing Just Worked(tm).
