NetBSD 4.99.48 (GENERIC) #0: Mon Jan 7 23:44:49 PST 2008
builds@wb43:/home/builds/ab/HEAD/i386/200801070002Z-obj/home/builds/ab/HEAD/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC
Architecture: i386
Machine: i386
>Description:
When shutting down the machine via poweroff / shutdown -p, it will enter
ACPI state 5. This state though will drain the battery as if hibernated.
Only shutting down with shutdown -h and then pushing the acpibut until
the power supply is cut will save the battery life. I.e. one should not
use shutdown -p with this machine.
>How-To-Repeat:
On a Toshiba Portege 3440, envstat -s charge -d acpibat0 ; shutdown -hp
now;
wait a couple of hours; boot; envstat -s charge -d acpibat0.
Observe the battery's lost a lot of power.
>Fix:
dunno.
