Okay, I've done some more research on this, and while the 4.0RC5 kernel
from FTP works fine, any kernel built on the actual machine fails with
 this error. I've cross-compiled a 4.0RC5 kernel on an i386 machine that
works fine to confirm this. Maybe a gcc bug? I compiled from the source
tarballs on the FTP site on both machines with an identical kernel
 config.
