 It has been mentioned several times, that something like FreeBSD's
 periodic should be used to better finetune the periodic tasks.

 For example FreeBSD's periodic.conf has option like:

 weekly_output=/var/log/weekly.log
 	or
 weekly_output="admin@foobar.example.org admin2@example.org"
 	or
 weekly_output=root	# this is the default
 	or
 weekly_output= # none so go to stdout

 Another interesting is:

 weekly_show_success="NO"	# default is YES
 weekly_show_info="NO"		# default is YES
 weekly_show_badconfig="NO"

 Also it can pick and choose what tasks to do.
