 I've found that this bug is not *BSD specific.
 
 I see the same 'file' bug on my linux box, which just upgraded
 from file-4.17 to file-4.18 with no change and no improvement.
 Both versions of 'file' yield the same output on linux when testing
 run.lisp, just like NetBSD and DragonFlyBSD.
 
 I'm wondering if libmagic might be the culprit, since 'file' is
 linked to libmagic?
