I have to apologize; work has kept me too busy to risk shutting down
my firewall/nat router, so I was never able to try adjusting the ifconfig
line to see exactly what was needed. (Prefixing "! /sbin/ifconfig pppoe0
inet" to the "0.0.0.0 0.0.0.1 up" in the instructions solved the no
connection problem for me, but I don't know if all of it is necessary,
e.g., the "! /sbin" part, or just "inet".)

I think we should close this PR, because no one else has ever had
problems, and I will not be able to get back to it until March 2007
 at the earliest.

Sorry to have been so sloppy on this PR.
