 It now appears to be working for me. Perhaps one of the kernel updates
 I've done has fixed it, or perhaps I was mistaken about the
 problem. (I first noticed the thing because I was getting packets in
 on the supposedly down interface.)
 
 For the moment perhaps we should close this -- if it starts happening
 for me again I'll try to be more careful about figuring out the
 circumstances so I can reproduce it.
