As of rev. 1.35 of viaide.c the VT8237A SATA controller (device id 0x0591) is supported.  The manual page should reflect this.  Also, my Asus P5VDC-X has RAID support of some kind, although I have not used it, but perhaps this should be mentioned there as well.
