 I've added the suggested patch to the 3.0.1 kernel and try to run it on 
 an Intel D945GNT motherboard.
 
 With this patch, the IGD is detected - without the patch the "generic" 
 code has been used.
 
 But one very serious problem still exists!
 The dmesg-message-buffer will still be overwritten by "something".
 I've seen this only on motherboards using the new IGD in the D945 chipset.
 
 It looks to me, that this patch has to be reviewed carfully. There must 
 be something different between the IGD of the D915 chipset and this one.
 
 Here the output of dmesg where the contents gets overwritten. It is just 
 after booting the system. I've only added the start of the buffer and 
 the "end" where it gets overwritten, because I haveto type it in again ....
