 Actually, I seem to have made a factual error... the wireless card leads to pcic0 port 0x400-0x43f in both slots - but my Xircom wired network adapter is the one that produces 0x300-0x30f.
 Would forcing pcic0 to use the 0x30x port be advisable?
 
 Also, PCMCIAVERBOSE unfortunately gave no new information.
 A quick check of dmesg reveals that no devices are configured above 0x400, I suspect you're right about the ten-bit barrier...
