I want to add this note from Dave Uhring in relation with the problem
report #32368. We agree that we must submit it as soon as possible,
as it is important for managing this issue:

``As far as I can tell, gzip will compress only one file per invocation.
Any reference to "files" or "source files" as in OBSD's gzip(1) is
 a source of confusion.

Certainly gzip can compress many files with a single command by globbing
the target "file" argument. But normally only one file will be compressed,
decompressed, tested, etc at a time.''

 Best regards,
 Igor.
