 Looks like the 'kbd' driver doesn't mangle PS/2 scancodes like the 'keyboard' driver does. I changed the X -configure code to default to 'kbd' only on platforms where it's known to work properly ( in -current ), please try it, X -configure should attempt to use 'keyboard' again.
